|Short Profile Description||
Are your feelings of anxiety, depression, sadness or anger a result of unhappy relationships?
My specialty is relationship counselling: relationship with self, with family, with partner and with the world at large. The quality of these relationships is at the foundation of our life experiences, shaping our identity and affecting our ability to flourish. I work with both couples and individuals to improve relationships.
All couple relationships go through ups and downs. When there are particularly testing circumstances or when problems seem intractable, couple counselling or therapy can be useful in working through issues and restore sense of safety and connection in the relationship. When working with couples, I focus primarily on the dynamic of emotions as the key to understand destructive patterns and disconnections but also offer practical strategies to manage stress and conflicts.
Beyond addressing current troubles, engaging professional counselling/therapy is about developing a better understanding of oneself and of others. Such knowledge is empowering and may enable one to live more authentically, engage with the world more fully and achieve a firmer sense of purpose and well-being.
My training encompasses psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment theory, Mindfulness practice and Positive Psychology. The relationship issues I counsel my clients with range from developing self-confidence, dating, sexual problems, recovery from break-ups and affairs, parenting concerns and divorce and separation.
In addition to English, I am a native Mandarin Chinese speaker.

Detailed Profile Description
|About Me: Philosophy||
Therapy is a personal journey. I start by actively listening to and understanding you, addressing current issues as well as exploring the deeper roots of your troubles. In order to move forward and thrive in life, I believe we all need to know ourselves better and build mental flexibility. Carl Rogers put it succinctly: 'When I accept myself as I am, then I change.' By integrating several different types of therapy, I formulate a set of interventions to work with each individual or couple. The foundations of my psychotherapeutic approach lie in psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based therapy and experiential/humanistic therapy, which all share the view that positive human relationships are at heart of robust mental health. I also incorporate evidence-based approaches from cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), positive psychology and mindfulness practice in my work when appropriate. My practice is supervised regularly and I maintain an on-going professional development schedule to deepen my understanding of the science and practices in neuroscience, psychology, and psychotherapy.
|About Me: Qualifications and Experience||
I received my qualification in individual and couple psychotherapy and counselling at Tavistock Relationships in London with additional training in Adolescence Development at Tavistock and Portman Clinic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at Association of Psychological Therapy and Positive Psychology with University of Pennsylvania (US). I am a registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). In addition to BSc, I hold a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley (US). I have lived and worked in the UK, America and Asia for the last three decades and speak fluent Mandarin Chinese.
